Ukrainian Railways is planning to launch 18 new routes to European countries. Additionally, the company will seek to restore and build new multimodal container terminals throughout Ukraine.

The company’s board chairman, Yevhen Lyashchenko, made the announcement during a briefing in early April. Ukrainian Railways will present the routes in September 2024.

Lyashchenko states that the company will focus on multimodal transport. “Our main focus is multimodal business. We’re talking about the reconstruction and development of terminals throughout Ukraine. Currently, we are building a robust network of container terminals. There will be new European cross routes that will enable both European and Ukrainian clients to operate efficiently. Essentially, it will be like a single ticket: a unified tariff and a clear approach in terms of speed and price,” he said.

Moreover, Lyashchenko pointed out that Ukrainian Railways already transports both raw materials and high-value consumer goods on container trains.
