METRANS is launching a new connection between its rail terminal HUB in Budapest with its terminal in Indija, in northern Serbia. The German company has recently become the operator of the Serbian terminal and the service should start at the beginning of June.

METRANS became the major shareholder of Croatian railway company Adria Rail, which was operating the terminal in Indija at the end of March. “Through its investment in Adria Rail, METRANS is now operating its first terminal in Serbia”, said the company back then.

Connecting the terminal in Indija with Budapest opens up new opportunities for the Serbian market. The facility is located between Belgrade and Novi Sad, the two most populated cities in the country with a total of over one and a half million people.

Moreover, the terminal in Budapest will get a new regular connection to the port of Rijeka, in southern Croatia. The Budapest-Rijeka service is scheduled to start on 1 June, whereas the Budapest-Indija “closely follows”, as METRANS stated. With the connection to the port of Rijeka, the company now can provide services to all three major Adriatic ports since it already had links to Trieste and Koper.
