RZD extends international and domestic discounts for 2023
Russian Railways (RZD) is extending to 2023 discounts for the transportation of various goods both internationally and domestically. The list of discounts was posted by RZD on their official Telegram channel.
When it comes to international transportation, the extended discounts are four. First, a 50 per cent discount is applied to import transportation of fruits and vegetables from Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Transportation of oil to Belarus via the South Urals Railway will be discounted by 33,5 per cent.
Finally, there will be a 50 per cent discount for the transportation of ferrous metals to Russia through the Samur border crossing, in northeastern Azerbaijan. The same discount will be applied for the transportation of these types of goods to Russia via the Boyuk Kyasik-Gardabani border crossing between Georgia and Azerbaijan as well. At the beginning of December, RZD also announced a 20 per cent discount for the transportation of containers along the eastern branch of the International North-South Transport Corridor for 2023.
Discounts for transportation from Kalinigrad
Transportation of fodder from Shipovka, in the Kaliningrad region, to Russian destinations on the North Caucasus Railway and the PrivZhD network will have a 25 per cent discount. The North Caucasus Railway connects the Sea of Azov with the Caspian Sea.
The PrivZhD network connects the Russian regions of Saratov, Volgograd, and Astrakhan. This service will be carried out with the participation of the Baltiysk-Ust Luga railway-ferry crossing, which connects Kalinigrad with the Russian mainland near St. Petersburg.
RZD’s discounts for domestic transportation
Concerning domestic services, RZD claimed that transportation over short distances will be discounted by 50 per cent. In addition, a 33,75 per cent discount will be applied for the transportation of cars from the Russian Far East to Moscow, including shipments via the Khabarovsk-II station. Transportation of rolled ferrous materials between Polevskoy and Kamensk-Uralsky will be discounted by 47 per cent. Mineral fertilizers from Azotnaya to Murmansk via Veliky Novgorod will be discounted by 32 per cent.
