First edition of RailFreight On Tour concept a success in Lithuania
The RailFreight On Tour travelling event concept kicked off its first edition on 14 and 15 June. The Lithuanian edition that took place in Vilnius was welcomed warmly by the audience. The two-day event set the floor for fruitful discussions, future outlooks, logistics assessment and, of course, lots of fun.
Guests arrived in Vilnius from all over Europe, and the hosts – Lithuanian Railways – made sure that everyone felt at home from the first minute. The event started with a networking lunch at the venue’s skybar, where everyone could meet each other, start networking and enjoy a beautiful view of Vilnius.
Yet, this was only the start of the day since the lunch was followed by a tour through the Lithuanian capital and a door-to-door train ride to the networking dinner location. The atmosphere was warm despite the rainy weather and provided much space for the logistics world’s strongest skill: connecting and building relationships and solutions.
Now, what defines a successful event? Apart from a well-organised and insightful conference programme, everyone realised that grouping together and sharing experiences and views is priceless. With the event’s first day dedicated to that, the results were also reflected the day after, when the actual conference programme unfolded.
Apart from introducing the logistics sector with Lithuania’s rail freight potential, guests also came together and thought along to tackle some critical issues. Whether it was intermodal transport, EU policy, or the impact that the war in Ukraine has on transport, participants were eagerly involved in discussions on how to improve things collectively.
In the end, this may be the central message of the RailFreight On Tour-The Lithuanian Edition: showcasing how emerging rail freight and logistics markets can add value to the European and global supply chain is one thing. In this sense, the event was a success. However, the feeling of belonging and the human interest in how different countries, companies, and people could all benefit from working more closely together is what made the difference.
This was also underlined by Lithuanian Railways at the end of the event. They were the hosts and did a great job of creating the best possible conditions for everyone to enjoy and make the most out of the event. And, they acknowledged that RailFreight.com organising such events helps the rail freight industry share insights and stay connected. They thanked the RailFreight.com team with an original nail used in tracks in Vilnius.
On RailFreight.com’s behalf, we would like to stress that Vilnius was a blast! We want to thank our hosts, Lithuanian Railways and partner Conway, and everyone who attended and contributed to two exciting, insightful and enjoyable days! We will see all of you at one of our following events!
