Vietnam gets second rail freight connection to Belgium

Starting next month, the Vietnamese city of Da Nang will have a rail freight link to Europe. The train will carry products from IKEA to LIege in Belgium, and from there Swedish furniture items will be further distributed to Hamburg and Melzo (Italy).

It is the second rail freight link between Vietnam and Belgium. In July last year, the capital of Hanoi was connected to Liege by rail. The new train will stop in Hanoi for customs clearance, before it crosses the border to Zhengzhou in China.

Second connection to Belgium

The departure was announced by the Railways of Transport and Trade Joint Stock Company (Ratraco), which will operate the service. The train will carry a total of 23 containers of furniture products of IKEA.

The rail connection between Hanoi and Liege was the first connection established between Vietnam and Belgium, the Da Nang-Liege connection is the second. The connection with the capital transported garments, textiles, and leather shoes.
