These three Austrian terminals are going digital
The Austrian terminals of Wolfurt, Wels and Vienna-South will soon be automated for truck and rail traffic. Camco Technologies has been selected the gate and rail automation partner. The three terminals, all operated by TSA, currently make use of manual gate systems. Each of the terminals will now get a video gate for incoming and outgoing rail traffic.
The agreement was signed between Camco Technologies and ÖBB-Infrastruktur, to which the Terminal Service Austria (TSA) belongs. Apart from the rail cameras, the technology includes truck video gates as well as a kiosk for automated checks of trucks and cargo. The automation of the terminals mean a great step forward in efficiency.
Camco technology
The Camco Technologies truck and rail portals are equipped with AI embedded cameras, capable of registering container, trailer and rail wagon ID, ISO code, weight info and door direction. Dedicated engines based on convolutional neural networks and OCR technology immediately start processing after image acquisition. The data is sent to the terminal operating system KLV 2000, allowing instant processing of freight and trains increasing overall terminal efficiency.
Johann Pluy, Member of the Board of Directors at ÖBB Infrastruktur mentioend that the main gains would be won in efficiency, safety and customer satisfaction, as well as in facilitating the access of goods to rail. “We are pleased to have Camco Technologies as an experienced partner for the implementation of the Video gates. The use of the new technology will further improve the capacity, efficiency and quality of our terminal services in the future”, he added.
