TransContainer has launched a new multimodal service between Russia and the CIS countries and Vietnam through the Russian port of Vostochny and the Chinese port of Nansha. The service is now up and running once every two weeks.

Export cargo from various regions of Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan is first collected at the Vostochnaya Stevedoring Companyā€™s terminal (VSC). From here, it is transported by sea to Chinaā€™s port of Nansha, and ultimately shipped to Vietnamā€™s ports of Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh.

From the VSC terminal to the destinations in Vietnam the journey takes 25 days, says TransContainer. The service also operates in the opposite direction for import deliveries. TransContainer provides its own equipment and makes transportation arrangements in relation to the railway and the sea part of the route.

Growing demand

ā€œThe launch of a new service in shipments to and from Vietnam, one of Russiaā€™s leading trade partners in the Asia-Pacific region, will make it possible to meet the growing needs of our customers in the transportation of raw materials and consumer goodsā€, Nikita Pushkarev, Sales and Customer Service Director at TransContainer noted.

TransContainer is part of Delo Group. The VSC terminal is part of Global Ports, in which 61.5 per cent of the shares are held by Delo Group. Delo Group is the largest Russian transportation and logistics holding.
