The Alnabru freight terminal in Oslo is getting an upgrade
The Nordic region’s largest freight terminal will get various technical improvements, in both capacity and infrastructure and is now inviting stakeholders to contribute to the implementation of the upgrade.
The Norwegian infrastructure manager Bane NOR has announced a number of upcoming upgrades concerning safety systems, digital signalling and optimisation of the use of space. These changes are necessary because some of the current safety systems are severely outdated, as some were installed as far back as the 1950s.
“The aim is to handle more freight trains in a more efficient and environmentally friendly way”, Norway’s infrastructure manager Bane NOR said. It announced that various parts of the terminal will be expanded and upgraded in the future, but did not specify a concrete plan or dates of delivery.
Appeal to stakeholders
Bane NOR is now appealing to stakeholders to contribute to the upgrade. “We invite all stakeholders to get in touch to discuss opportunities and collaborative projects. We are open to hearing your ideas and experiences that can contribute to realising our vision for a more innovative, efficient and sustainable freight terminal”, the infrastructure manager stated.
