Spot the White Dove locomotive on rails in Europe

White Dove

War may be dominating the headlines nowadays, the word of peace is distributed on the rails. Starting today, a ‘white dove locomotive’ is doing rounds in Europe. “For a little peace movement on the net and beyond”, says initiator TX Logistik.

The German operator had one of its locomotives made-over with white livery, displaying the hopeful words “Peace Movement – For the greatest good(s) in the world and Europe”. The locomotive hit the tracks on Thursday 17 March.

“Our “white dove” is supposed to set a sign of hope these days. At the same time, it stands for the unconditional will to make a difference, which can also be felt throughout our company. If we all make a contribution, each within the scope of our personal possibilities, something great and unique will be created”, the operator says.

Other fun locs and trains

TX Logistik, a subsidiary of the Mercitalia Group (which is in turn a subsidiary of Ferrovie delle Stato Italiane), has a track record of interesting locomotives. Recently, it applied green livery on one of its locomotives with the text “Our heart beats green”.

It is not uncommon for operators to spread a message with a special livery. A well-known example is Noah’s Train, an initiative of Rail Freight Forward. This was an entire train painted with messages promoting the shift to rail, and was also called the longest mobile artwork. It left Poland in December 2018 and travelled through Europe for a year.
