In a little more than 24 hours the special edition of the RailFreight Summit kicks off. This event, hosted in Brussels on Wednesday 6 April, is organised to discuss the current challenges on the New Silk Road as a result of the war in Ukraine.

Which sanctions are now in place? And are more sanctions on the way? How do these impact the volumes on the New Silk Road? The container prices? The popularity of rail? One thing is certain, the impact is there, but the willingness to continue doing business is there as well. At this summit, the industry comes together to discuss how they can stick together.

Insurance and transparency

Is the Middle Corridor the answer? We will discuss this with players from the region, and with European rail freight companies. And what about the sanctions? What exactly do they curtail, and what not? During an interactive workshop, delegates can ask all their questions to the sanction lawyers on stage.

Insurance companies have noticed the changes too, but what does this mean? And how transparent are the shipments today? Do we need them to be more transparent? There is a role to play by IT companies, who are also represented at the summit.

Join the discussion

The single-day event concludes with a discussion with the audience. What does the future for railfreight look like? Can we continue shipping products on rail? Or should we look for multimodal solutions, or even abandon rail at all?

It does not matter if you attend physically or online, your presence will be noted. Do you not have a ticket yet? Make sure to reserve your seat here, or check out the programme for more information.
