Chemical Powerhouse

The chemical industry is growing rapidly, with the worldwide annual value exceeding 1,500 billion dollars. Among all the players, the Netherlands stands out with its strong roots in chemistry producing and exporting. The country, in terms of turnover, is the seventh largest chemical industry base in Europe and the ninth largest in the world. What’s worth mentioning is that 19 of the top 25 chemical companies in the world are from the Netherlands, among which there are prestigious international top companies like Shell, Akzo-Nobel and DSM. Moreover, the location in the heart of Europe gives the Netherlands easy access to over 170 million end consumers.

At the same time, China’s chemical industry is currently in transition to high-quality and refined development. The Netherlands’ flourishing chemical network, solid industrial base and active research atmosphere can undoubtedly add value to this process,

Chemical Logistics

As for the chemical industry, logistics is the key part. Chemical products are mostly considered as dangerous goods with the features of being flammable, explosive, and corrosive, which require special precautions in the process of storage and transportation. Safety and professionalism of operation are of top priority. A single mistake can lead to serious accidents and environmental pollution. In recent years, the digital management of chemical logistics has been attached more and more to tackle the security issues, which is also the tendency of transporting chemicals by rail.

In order to promote the cooperation between Chinese and Dutch enterprises in chemical logistics and to jointly build a smart chemical ecology in the globe, the sixth edition of the “the Netherlands Connect” series webinar will focus on “Chemical Powerhouse and dangerous good transport”. This event will be held online on December 9 from 9:00 to 10:30 CET, where key players from the Dutch and Chinese chemical industries will discuss the latest opportunities and innovative practices in the logistics sector.
