Full-length container trains from Belarus to China expand

United Transport and Logistics Company Eurasian Rail Alliance (UTLC ERA) in cooperation with Belintertrans has developed a technology to form and forward full-length container trains from Belarus to China. A new waypoint is Lupolovo station, from where a 41-feet container train loaded with powder milk was sent to Chungking on 24 October.

The first full-length container train from Belarus to China was sent in August this year. “Containers loaded with food products – cheese, milk, and cream, were forwarded from Brest to Chengdu on 18 August, while containers with malt, butter and confectionery went on their way on 29 August,” UTLC ERA Vice President Igor Zgurskiy said.

Expanding service

Two months since the first container departed from Brest to Chengdu, the geographic reach of Belarus export to China has expanded. UTLC ERA in cooperation with BTLC commenced regular shipment to Chungking, Chengdu, and Zhengzhou. A first full-length container train carrying confectionery and powder milk was sent from Kolyadichy station to Chungking in September, while, in October, the first train en route Kolyadichy – Chengdu followed. The latter is called the GREEN STEAM route, to which Lupolovo station has now been added.

“High speed and competitive railway services open new sales markets for Belarus goods manufacturers in China. This new business area is one of priorities for UTLC ERA,” company president Alexey Grom shared.
