Kazakh Kuryk port to get various new terminals
The Kazakh Port of Kuryk, on the Caspian Sea coast, will get three new terminals. They are supposed to be ready by 2027, and Abu Dhabi Ports is getting involved with an investment of 184,6 million euros.
A multifunctional terminal is being built at the port with a total throughput capacity of 9,4 million tonnes, with a large investment from Abu Dhabi Ports at the equivalent of 184,6 million euros. The port will get a grain facility with a 1 million tonne capacity, as well as an oil terminal (4,5 million tonnes) and a general use terminal of 2,9 million tonnes.
The Kuryk port is a major hub as a transshipment point along the Middle Corridor. Rail freight can be loaded onto ships destined for Azerbaijan, from where the goods continue their journey towards Europe.
Earlier, a new grain terminal opened at the port. The port of Aktau, also on the Kazakh Caspian Sea coast, is struggling to cope with the influx of grain and banned incoming grain trains.
