DB Cargo: freight traffic in the Netherlands may be disrupted
DB Cargo has announced that on Tuesday 28 May, its rail freight traffic in, to and from the Netherlands may be disrupted. This is due to a national strike in the country, asking for a better pension fund policy.
“At present, the effect of the national strike is not clear yet. However, serious disruption of DB Cargo train traffic to, from and in the Netherlands cannot be ruled out”, said a spokesperson of the rail freight operator in the Netherlands.
Pension funds
The strike is jointly organised by the trade union federations. They will demonstrate in different places and at different companies against the government’s policy on pension funds. It is not clear in which way DB Cargo is involved with these strikes.
DB Cargo the Netherlands is the largest rail freight operator in the country. On December 10, 2018, the subsidiary received the safety certificate part A and B for freight transport by rail including that of dangerous goods. It was an extension of its existing certificate and is valid for the maximum duration of five years.
